Hirschmann Automotive optimizes knowledge transfer with the help of data glasses
Hirschmann Automotive, a global automotive supplier headquartered in Rankweil, Vorarlberg, was faced with the challenge of finding a cost-effective and time-efficient method of transferring knowledge between locations in 10 countries and 4 continents.
The employees needed more options than the existing communication solution could offer. To collaborate more effectively, the requirements included the ability to easily interact with multiple colleagues simultaneously or share files. The Cisco Webex platform met these requirements and more.
Instead of flying experts from Austria to the respective locations for questions or problems in the production area, Webex was also to be used for remote support. However, standard mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets proved to be too fragile and unwieldy.
RealWear's robust data glasses allow technicians to work on site with both hands while communicating with experts via the real-time audio and video functions. This not only makes it easier to locate problems quickly, but by displaying information directly in the technician's field of vision, even complex solutions can be communicated clearly and comprehensibly.
The new technology has sustainably improved collaboration within the company. The system has not only increased efficiency by reducing equipment downtime and speeding up the resolution of problems, but has also increased customer satisfaction through faster and more competent service. In the future, it could provide a further competitive advantage by offering customers real-time support or insights into production processes.
